Kink.com’s heterosexual CEO Peter Acworth has told the San Francisco Chronicle that it was Rod Daily, a gay porn performer who always wore condoms, who infected his girlfriend Cameron Bay, a straight porn performer who never wore condoms, with HIV. I guess it’s time for a moratorium on all gay porn productions then, right?

Acworth, who was arrested last year for cocaine possession, also tells the Chronicle that he has “confidence” there was no HIV transmission on set. Well, of course there wasn’t. No one in straight porn can have HIV! (Until now, of course, but it was the gay guy’s fault).

Gosh, with everything Peter Acworth is so certain of about HIV transmission, it’s truly a shame that he’s wasting his talents as the CEO of an S&M porn studio and not working as an infectious disease doctor.

Daily performed mostly in gay scenes, Acworth said. The industry standard is for actors in gay scenes to wear condoms to protect against transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms are optional for actors in straight scenes, but testing is mandatory.

“We can say with some degree of confidence that there was no transmission on set” involving Daily, Acworth said. “Rod Daily wore condoms in all his scenes. The strong indication is that Rod contracted it and transmitted it to Cameron Bay.”

Strong indication? While Bay tested HIV-positive over two weeks ago, Daily’s initial test around the same time came back negative. It wasn’t until his more recent follow-up test, Daily claims, that HIV antibodies were present. The strong indication to me, based on the timeline and the evidence, is that Daily—whose gay porn performances have always been with condoms—became infected after Bay, but then again I’m not the straight CEO of a major porn studio blindly and illogically speculating to a major newspaper about how the gay performer obviously infected the straight performer with HIV, so what do I know?

And you thought anonymous people on Twitter hurling anti-gay hate speech was bad.

UPDATE: Kink’s Peter Acworth has posted a comment below in response to the Chronicle interview:

I had quite a long conversation with this Chronicle reporter only hours after Rod had come out positive on twitter.

I was ill prepared and the quotes the reporter chose were selective. If indeed I was accurately quoted, I should have thought more carefully about what to say. I am sorry to Rod and Cameron if they are offended. It must have taken a great deal of courage for both of them to come out as they did in a selfless act to protect others.

In defense of my other comments, it is true to say that Rod performed only in condom scenes at kink.com, and it is also true that everyone who performed with Cameron have since tested negative via the most sensitive RNA tests. I believe it is a fair assessment to say with a strong degree of confidence that no transmission took place on set.

As to how the transmissions actually took place, you are absolutely correct that is none of my business and it is disrespectful to speculate, and I am sorry I did.

After nearly 13 years in the industry, Dean Monroe has announced his retirement, but don’t worry, he’s not going out quietly. The dashing Brit porn star has some choice words for everyone in a farewell retirement blog post entitled “Shame Shame Shame.”

Dean says that even after winning the highly prestigious Cybersocket Award for Best Porn Star in the beginning of 2013, studios refused to work with him because of his “just the tip” semi-bareback-but-not-really scene with Treasure Island Media. He also claims that Men.com won’t cast him because they only cast gay-for-payers (true) who haven’t ever been tested (not true—Men.com has mandatory testing.) Also, the photo on the left is of Dean Monroe in a Men.com scene, so…uhhh?

Shame Shame Shame

After 13 exciting and wonderful years in an industry that has given me confidence, creative expression, financial stability, the opportunity to travel and many life long friendships the gay porn world today has become a total disappointment.

Last year I said yes to a request by Treasure Island Media, the largest and most well know bareback studio, to shoot 2 scenes for them. One in London and the other in California. As through out my career  I’ve been a strong advocate of safe sex I agreed to it under the terms that the duo scene would be oral only and I would do a second jack off solo scene. All was agreed and the scenes were in the can.

At this point I need to add that most mainstream gay porn companies are now shooting bareback content. In the early 80′s after the Aids epidemic and discovery of the virus and how it was transmitted the gay porn world reacted by shooting condom only safe sex. It seems that today in 2013 the studios have decided to start relaxing the noose on condom use by shooting more bareback content due to it’s financial gain and due to the growing attitudes that its ok if you get infected you can still have a normal life the medication can control everything.

The backlash that followed the release of my 2 scenes for Treasure Island took me by surprise. On all the various blogs and websites the negative and hateful comments just kept pouring in. I had to break my silence and explain myself via thesword.com that seem to be the epicenter of the whole discussion. Well just like everything in porn the brawl lasted a mere few weeks and then was forgotten…..almost.

At the beginning of this year I received the Best Porn Star award at the Cybersockets voted on by the fans. With this in mind I returned to the U.S. with a fresh and eager attitude only to discover that not one of the many many studios I’ve collaborated with wanted to shoot me. This was a surprise and confusing to me but ultimately i knew the reason why. Which brings me to the situation in the industry today. In one word Chaos. Chaos in terms of the attitudes, the way people are cast, the standards that are followed and the greed and selfishness amongst the studio owners. In my situation no one wants to cast me because they believe i only do bareback now which means I’m likely HIV+ and that would be putting their filming at risk. Studios like MEN. com would prefer to use straight gay for pay actors who probably have never been tested rather than passionate gay performers who get tested regularly.

Unless there is a gold standard followed by the whole industry where every single performer is tested regularly before a shoot how can a studio know and decide on a models situation and whether he is suitable and safe. There is an ignorance and hypocrisy amongst studio directors today that is bringing the whole industry down and I only hope things will change very soon.

As for my situation I always knew the time would come when I would slowly have to say farewell and in no means is that sad. I’m happy to have made it through these 13 years happy, healthy, sane and still safe. And much wiser.

When I began writing this blog in 2006 with the utmost enthusiasm it was my goal to let the fans and readers into my life and my adventures in porn. I hope you have discovered something of interest and had a few “happy” moments along the way.
